FAQ
How does this service work?
It’s very simple and easy for you as the customer! First, you buy our reports and choose the version of the IECC (International Energy Conservation Codes) Report you need. Second, you will receive an email with a list of information that we need to process the report. Once you know what we need, your job is to send us those items! Next, we will send you the finished reports and all other documents to guarantee code compliance. Finally, all you have to do is contact your code official. Reach out to them and ask for their email to be able to forward them the reports. When you do, you don’t need to worry about retyping or removing any information, it is as simple as forwarding the email from us that you received! Do not send the information to the builder or the homeowner. It’s best to cut out as many middle men as possible. And if there are any questions, it’s easiest if they come directly back to us!
How can you guarantee code approval?
Fortunately, the ICC (International Code Council) adopted the IECC cross the entire United States of America. The energy codes supersede the prescriptive IRC (Residential Codes) codes so we use this to our advantage. Section 405 of the IECC allows us to show compliance through performance and that is what we do.
Do I need to explain it to the code official?
No! Our system is designed to supply all the necessary documents for Code Approval. All you need to do is contact your code official and ask for their email address. Once you have it, forward the email you received from us directly to them! That’s all you have to do!
Is it accepted in my area?
Yes! This is part of the Building Code and will be accepted in Zones 1-7 which cover the entire United States.
Does this service work internationally?
Unfortunately no. Right now, our service is only available to the continental United States.
Can this service be used to commercial projects?
Unfortunately, no. This is a residential modelling service only.
Can this be used for an addition to home?
As long as the addition is a single structure attached to an existing home on one side of the addition, then you can use our service.
Can I mix insulation types with in the envelope? Ex. SPF under the roof and fiberglass in the walls.
Our service takes the entire envelope into consideration and it is significantly more difficult to gain compliance with a mixed envelope. If you include an air sealing product with the fibreglass then there is a higher chance for compliance. We cannot guarantee compliance with a mixed envelope system.
I don’t believe this works! Why should I EMA?
We at EMA have over 10 years of experience successfully providing compliance reports all across America. This is a true and trustworthy compliance method that proves to work time and time again.
This question is exactly why we provide a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied. What do you have to loose giving us a shot?
